At Well Rooted Dentistry, a comfortable and relaxing dental experience is one of our top priorities. Our holistic dentists understand that many children and adults dread going to the dentist because of bad past experiences, and we hope to change that!

We offer comprehensive care to patients of all ages in the Providence, RI area and around the country. When you visit with our experienced and compassionate dental team, here’s what you can expect:

1.    Safe, Holistic Dentistry

We believe in the proven mouth-body connection. Research proves that untreated decay and disease have tremendous effects on systemic health and vice versa. For example, periodontal disease has been directly linked to heart disease, premature birth, and rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic issues like diabetes and hormonal shifts have been known to contribute to gum disease. Because of these connections, our biological dentists prioritize preventive care that keeps our patient’s mouths AND bodies healthy.

As part of this philosophy, our practice is fluoride-free, metal-free, and mercury-safe. Studies show that materials and treatments that contain these ingredients can have negative long-term effects on overall health and wellness. Thanks to modern medicine, fluoride, metal, and mercury all have safe, biocompatible alternatives that are even more effective.

2.    A Comprehensive Assessment by Your Holistic Dentist

Every new patient is encouraged to have a comprehensive assessment completed by our dental team. First, the patient meets with our dentist, Dr. Zannis, and our dental coordinator, Amber, to discuss their personal oral health goals which could include obtaining optimal oral health through preventive or restorative treatment or gaining a more beautiful smile through cosmetic dentistry. This part of the assessment also includes reviewing the patient’s oral and medical histories.

After the consultation, a thorough evaluation begins. Our team performs an oral assessment, taking digital x-rays, scans, and photos, and collecting any other necessary diagnostics.

Finally, Dr. Zannis gathers and assesses the diagnostics, information, and the patient’s personal goals to create a personalized treatment plan for the patient. These findings will be discussed with the patient at a later appointment.

3.    A Thorough, Gentle Cleaning

Biologically trained dentists provide teeth cleanings, just like traditional dentists, but with even more benefits. Our team uses ozone gas to irrigate the gingiva which stimulates oxygenation and circulation. This step promotes the creation of antioxidants that improve gum health. Then, using ultrasonic and scalers, the hygienist removes plaque, biofilm, and stains from the surface of the patient’s teeth. Lastly, the teeth are polished, and the oral cavity is injected with probiotics and prebiotics. This entire process restores the balance of the oral microbiome so patients can achieve and maintain a healthy smile.

Preparing for Your First Visit with a Holistic Dentist

Once patients have scheduled their first appointment, there are a few things they can do to make the most of their time at our office. First, we encourage new patients to complete these new patient forms ahead of time to save them time when they arrive at the office and ensure the appointment begins promptly. Additionally, new patients should bring the following items:

  • Photo ID
  • Dental insurance card
  • Any recent dental x-rays
  • A list of current medications and supplements
  • Payment method

Part of helping patients achieve their ideal smiles and optimal systemic health is finding ways to meet their budgeting needs. We do this by submitting insurance claims, offering third-party financing, and offering more affordable alternative solutions to their oral health needs.
