Prosthetic Dentistry

Missing teeth can take a toll on your appearance and confidence. Most importantly, however, tooth loss can be detrimental to your oral and overall health. When teeth are missing, the adjacent teeth begin to drift into the spaces left behind. This can lead to a host of bite issues, which can cause a domino effect of problems.

Prosthetic dentistry focuses on replacing missing teeth. There are fixed and removable options available, depending on your unique needs and preferences. At Well Rooted Dentistry in Providence, RI, our holistic dentists perform individual testing to determine which solution is right for you.

Bridges

A dental bridge consists of artificial teeth (pontics) which are supported by crowns. Traditionally, bridges contained metal. At our holistic practice, we use only metal-free, biocompatible materials.

Before placing a bridge, the teeth on either side of the gap must be prepared. This involves removing small amounts of enamel from the adjacent teeth. Next, dental impressions are taken. These are used to create your custom restoration. Once the bridge is complete, it is permanently bonded into place using biocompatible dental cement. In most cases, dental bridge placement can be completed in two office visits.

Partial Dentures

These removable appliances are recommended for patients who are missing several teeth on one or both arches. A partial consists of a gum-colored base and artificial teeth to complete your smile. While conventional partials often consist of metal clasps, we use only safe, biocompatible materials at our holistic practice.

To fit you for your new partial, we will take impressions of your gums and any remaining teeth. These impressions are then sent to our partner dental lab for the fabrication of your appliance. Our dentists will make any necessary adjustments to ensure a proper fit.

Full Dentures

Similar to partials, full dentures replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Advances in dentistry allow us to fabricate dentures from a wide range of biocompatible, thermoplastic, BPA-free materials. Our dentures are strong, durable, and highly aesthetic.

Full denture treatment is similar to the process for partial dentures. Impressions must be taken so that your appliance can be crafted according to your unique oral anatomy. Once your dentures are complete, your dentist will assess the fit and make any adjustments.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are currently the most successful teeth replacement option available. These threaded posts replace missing roots – and once they have healed, they are the closest thing to natural teeth. At Well Rooted Dentistry, we use only biocompatible, all-zirconia dental implants to reduce the risk of allergic reaction.

Dental implants can be restored with crowns, bridges, and even dentures, giving our patients a wide range of restorative options. Dr. Robert Bouffard, our on-site periodontist, collaborates with Dr. Sylvia Zannis for comprehensive implant treatment at our Providence, RI practice.

We use advanced cone beam scans for guided implant surgeries. This eliminates guesswork and ensures that the implants are placed in the most optimal locations. We also utilize PRF therapy, which uses the patient’s own blood cells to promote healing at the surgical site.
